YouTube, the worldwide popular video sharing platform, has started testing a product for playing online games. The company has invited employees to test a new product called ‘Playables’. Games like Stack Bounce are available for testing on it.

The Wall Street Journal reports that youtube has sent an email in this regard to the employees of its parent company Google. These games can be played through YouTube’s site on web browsers or through Google’s Android or Apple’s iOS mobile devices. A YouTube spokesperson said that the company’s focus has been on gaming. Experimenting is being done with new features. However, he also said that there is nothing to announce in this regard.

Many users stream games and watch live streaming of games on YouTube. The company’s CEO, Neal Mohan, plans to explore new areas for growth due to declining advertising revenue, and these include online games. The WSJ report states that several games have been made available to employees for testing. These also include Stack Bounce arcade game with advertisements. In this game players have to break layers of bricks with a bouncing ball. Online gaming will provide YouTube another source of revenue from the gaming industry.

Apart from this, the company has also planned to introduce some new features. These also include YouTube’s first shopping channel which is going to be launched in South Korea. YouTube, owned by Alphabet, the company that runs Google, has been facing tough competition from TikTok for the last few years. YouTube faced trouble in India late last year when the central government asked the company to remove three channels for making false claims about government welfare schemes and spreading fake news. These three channels were described by the fact checking unit of the government’s Press Information Bureau as giving false and misleading information.
