VIP Cars to Play Soothing Music Instead of Sirens, Nitin Gadkari Proposes

Often in the country, when a VIP passes through the road, the loud siren installed in his vehicle irritates people. This problem can be ended soon. Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that he is planning to remove sirens from VIP cars. This will be another major step by the Central Government after removing red lights from vehicles carrying VIPs.

Gadkari has proposed that instead of loud sirens, melodious tunes of musical instruments can be played on VIP cars. He said that such steps will help in controlling sound pollution. “It is very important to control sound pollution,” Gadkari said after inaugurating a flyover in Maharashtra’s Pune. “It is very important to control sound pollution. I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to eliminate red beacons from vehicles carrying VIPs. I am now working on these “I am planning to remove sirens from vehicles.”

He told that he wants to play melodious music of musical instruments instead of loud sirens. Gadkari said, “I am making a policy in which sirens will be replaced by sounds of flute, tabla and conch. I want people to get rid of noise pollution.” Last year, Gadkari had decided to make a minimum of six airbags mandatory in all passenger cars (M1) category. However, the automobile industry had requested the government to reconsider this rule as it would increase the manufacturing cost of vehicles.

In the draft notification issued by the Central Government in this regard, it has been said that at least six airbags will have to be installed in M1 category vehicles (up to 8 seats). This rule will affect budget to mid-range vehicles which do not have airbags for rear seat passengers. After the implementation of this rule, safety in vehicles for passengers will increase. Two airbags are already mandatory for passenger cars. The average cost of adding four airbags will be Rs 8,000-10,000. Each airbag costs between Rs 1,800-2,000. Apart from this, automobile companies will also have to spend on modification. This may increase the cost of the vehicle by approximately Rs 30,000.
