A driver of Uber, which provides cab services through the app, has used a surprising method to increase his income. This driver from North Carolina in America has earned $ 28,000 (about Rs 23.2 lakh) in a year by canceling most of his rides.

Insider’s one Report The man, identified as Bill, said he accepted less than 10 percent of the rides he received last year and made about 1,500 trips. Bill would only accept rides that offered him the most benefits. Surge pricing had reduced in his area and because of that he had also reduced his driving hours. Earlier he used to drive cab 40 hours a week, which he has reduced to 30 hours. “I have said no many times. I don’t work unless there is a surge,” he said.

70-year-old Bill said that during Corona, he and other drivers used to earn up to $ 50 an hour because during that time some drivers had to stop driving due to health related problems. However, as the number of drivers has increased, their income has increased to $15 to $20 per hour. Bill said that he does something different to earn more. This includes keeping your location near airports and bars during busy hours. This provides the benefit of surge pricing. Bill said, “When a plane lands and people request an Uber, the price increases rapidly. In such a situation, you can get up to $ 50 for a 20-minute ride. Usually, a normal 35-minute ride costs $ 30.” Gets $60.”

Apart from this, Bill also avoids one-way rides to remote locations. However, there are some risks with such methods. Uber says that if a driver’s trip is refused or canceled because of the destination, it may result in the driver’s account with the company being terminated. Although this hasn’t happened to Bill, he has heard of drivers who have been barred from airport pickups for refusing to travel long distances. Despite this, Bill does not plan to change his strategy and he accepts only those trips which he finds beneficial.
