The Great Red Spot: Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, is surrounded by many mysteries. To identify this gaseous planet and know more about it, the American space agency NASA has sent some spacecraft. They are circling the planet Jupiter and exploring it. In this sequence, a ‘red spot’ bigger than the Earth has been seen on Jupiter. He surprised the scientists. NASA’s Juana spacecraft has taken this picture from a distance of 13 thousand kilometers. What is red spot after all? Let us know.

The red spot can be easily seen in the picture shared on Instagram. According to NASA, Juno spacecraft took this photo from a distance of 13917 kilometers. You will be surprised to know that this red spot is a storm, which has been forming on Jupiter for the last 350 years.

The Great Red Spot can be seen in NASA’s image. A brown, orange serpentine shape is also visible in it. NASA says that a high-pressure region in Jupiter’s atmosphere has been creating anticyclonic storms for more than 350 years.

It was first known about it in 1979. The Voyager spacecraft saw the red spot. Since then this storm has been getting smaller. A decrease in both its height and width has been observed. The Great Red Spot is twice the size of the Earth. This storm exists about 300 km below the clouds of Jupiter. Due to lack of solid land on Jupiter, the storm is not weakening. Here winds can blow at a speed of about 643 kilometers per hour.

According to NDTV report, Juno spacecraft was launched in the year 2011. This is a spacecraft as big as a basketball court. It entered Jupiter’s orbit on July 4, 2016.
