The consolidated net profit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the country’s largest software company, increased by almost 17 percent on year-on-year basis to Rs 11,074 crore in the June quarter. The consolidated revenue of the company has increased by about 13 percent and is Rs 59,381 crore.

However, the company’s revenue has grown only 0.4 percent quarter-on-quarter and profit has declined by nearly three percent compared to the previous quarter. The company’s order book is approximately $10.2 billion. TCS has suffered a setback in terms of operating margins. There has been a decline of 1.30 percent compared to the previous quarter. K Krithivasan, Managing Director, TCS, said, “We are confident of sustaining long-term demand for our services as new technologies emerge. We are making immediate investments to strengthen our capabilities in these new technologies.”

In the last quarter, the company’s profit has been affected by the increase in salaries and some other costs. TCS has given 12-15 percent increase in salary to the workers who have performed very well. Last month, a scam of taking bribe in exchange for job was revealed in TCS. Tata Sons and TCS Chairman N Chandrasekaran had said that he was shocked after it was revealed that six workers of the company were taking commission from staffing firms. At TCS’s 28th Annual General Meeting, Chandrasekaran assured shareholders of taking stringent measures regarding its dealings with over 1,000 staffing firms, so that such incidents do not happen again.

He said, “The ethical conduct and integrity of every worker is of utmost importance before any financial performance for a Tata Group company. We are shocked whenever a worker violates ethical conduct. We take it very seriously.” ” Chandrasekaran said that two whistleblower complaints were received in this matter. The company has dismissed six workers and blacklisted six staffing firms regarding this. Apart from this, investigation is being done against three other workers. He said, “We cannot determine what benefits these workers received, but they certainly behaved in a way that benefited some firms.”
