The demand for supercars has increased in the last few years. However, these cars are manufactured only by selected automobile companies. The Mada 9, a supercar built in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, was shown on social media platforms earlier this year. This supercar has entered the Geneva Motor Show held in Qatar. However, it is being called Simurgh instead of Mada 9.

It has been made by Afghan manufacturing company Entop and Afghanistan Technical Vocational Institute (ATVI). The supercar has been loved at the Geneva Motor Show, one of the most prestigious automotive events. It is completely in black color and has a sleek design. It has been claimed that this supercar has been designed by 30 engineers from Afghanistan. Its four-cylinder engine is taken from the two decade old Toyota Corolla. However, information about its technical specifications has not been given. The engine of the Simurgh is rear mounted and is placed in the middle of the tube chassis.

Entop, the manufacturer of this supercar, has said that some changes have been made in the engine taken from Toyota for this supercar. Its front grille has been provided with sleek LED headlamps. The Simurgh has a side profile with a sharp front splitter, large black alloy wheels, flared fenders and better air intakes. Pushrod suspension is also available in it.

Entop claims the Simurgh is a step up from other prototype supercars. Electric powertrain can also be installed in it. This car is currently a prototype and Entop will need funding for its commercial manufacturing. Many restrictions have been implemented in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control. However, in the last few months the Taliban government has eased restrictions in some areas. Automobile companies have very little presence in Afghanistan. Due to lack of manufacturing, cars and two-wheelers are imported into Afghanistan. Because of this their prices are higher. Many countries have imposed sanctions on Afghanistan. This is also having a big impact on manufacturing. However, the Taliban government has made preparations to start manufacturing in some areas.
