Real Madrid has reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League (UCL). The team defeated Manchester City in a penalty shootout in the second leg of the quarter-finals on Thursday, 18 April. The second leg of two UCL quarterfinal matches was played today.

In the second match, Germany’s club Bayern Munich defeated England’s club Arsenal. Munich has also secured a place in the semi-finals of the season.

The second leg of the quarter-final between Madrid and City ended in a 1-1 draw at full time. The first leg of both the teams was a 3-3 draw. In such a situation, the final score of the quarter-finals remained equal to 4-4. Due to no result, both the teams had to resort to penalty shootout. In which Madrid defeated City 4-3. The second leg was played at City’s home ground, the Etihad Stadium. Rodrigo of Madrid gave the team the lead by scoring a goal in the 12th minute of the match. But, City team’s star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne leveled the match by scoring a goal in the 76th minute, which remained the same score till full time.

Real Madrid has reached the UCL semi-finals for the 17th time.

Munich beats Arsenal 1-0
In the second leg of the second quarter-final match, Bayern Munich defeated Arsenal 1-0. Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich scored the only goal of the second leg played at Germany’s home ground Allianz Arena. The first leg between the two teams was tied 2-2. In such a situation, the aggregate score of the quarter-finals of both the teams was 3-2, and Munich won.

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich scored in the 63rd minute of the match.
