It is noteworthy that this spacecraft had stopped sending readable data to Earth in November last year. Although the spacecraft was receiving instructions, it was not able to send the necessary data to Earth. The investigation was handed over to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Nasa JPL). The teams discover a malfunctioning chip that is hampering the mission.
Scientists developed a code that resolved Voyager 1’s technical flaw. Now scientists have said that Voyager 1 is again sharing information about its engineering systems and its health status to the scientists present on Earth.
Scientists also shared this happiness with the X-handle of NASA Voyager. Wrote- “Hi, it’s me. – V1”. The next goal of scientists is to make the spacecraft more capable so that it can start sharing science data. The Voyager spacecraft was launched in the year 1977. Presently it is present 15 billion miles away from the Earth. Whenever a message is sent from Earth to Voyager 1, it takes 22.5 hours to reach the spacecraft.
Seeing the success of Voyager 1, scientists launched Voyager 2 in the year 2018. Both the spacecraft have taken ‘Golden Records’ with them. It is a 12-inch gold-plated copper disc, whose purpose is to convey the story of our world i.e. Earth to extraterrestrials. The purpose of Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft is to study the systems of Jupiter and Saturn. In the future, they can also be sent to investigate the outer solar system.
