Microsoft, one of the big software companies, has warned that China can cause irregularities in the Lok Sabha elections to be held in India through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Recently, China used AI to influence the outcome of Taiwan’s presidential election.

last month Microsoft Bill Gates, co-founder, had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the capital. In this meeting, the use of AI and innovation in health and agriculture was discussed. Elections are going to be held in more than 60 countries across the world. Microsoft’s Threat Intelligence team has said that cyber groups supported by the Chinese government can target many elections to be held this year with the help of North Korea. In these elections, China may conspire to change public opinion by making AI generated content viral through social media.

Microsoft has said in a statement, “There are many major elections to be held around the world this year. These especially include elections in India, America and South Korea. Our assessment is that China will use AI to benefit its interests.” Can use the content.” Regulations related to AI can soon be brought under legal ambit in the country. For this, there is a plan to prepare a regulatory framework after the Lok Sabha elections.

Electronics and Information Technology Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw has told in an interview to a business newspaper that there is a plan to create a regulatory structure for AI. He said, “The idea was to create a self-regulating body for this, but we do not think this will be sufficient. We believe that this regulation should be done in a legal manner. We have discussed this with the industry. “After the elections, we will formally begin the consultation process to move toward legislation.” Ashwini said that the regulations will be balanced and it will be ensured that the creativity of innovators does not suffer. Last year, as the use of AI increased, problems like deepfakes also came to light. After this, the government warned social media platforms Facebook and YouTube regarding this.
