Shashank Srivastava, senior executive officer, Maruti Suzuki, said that usually the festive season generates 22-26 percent of the total sales in a year. He said, “Total sales of passenger vehicles this financial year are estimated to be around 40 lakh units. Sales in the festive season may be around 10 lakh units.” Srivastava said that the sales of the automobile industry have been strong this year and this is expected to continue in the coming months also.
He said, “The last few months have been very good in terms of sales. July has seen the second highest sales in a month with 3.52 lakh units. In August too, this figure could be in the range of 3.5 lakh units.” Maruti Suzuki has about 43 percent share in the passenger vehicle segment. Recently the company started the delivery of 5 door Jimny. It was introduced at this year’s Auto Expo. Its price ranges from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Jimny is being manufactured at the company’s Gurugram plant. It will be sold through Nexa outlets of Maruti Suzuki. The waiting period for this is six to eight months. This off-roader of the company is getting good response from the customers. It has a 462 cc 4 cylinder petrol engine which generates power of 104.8 PS and torque of 134.2 Nm at 4000 rpm. Its fuel tank is of 40 litres. It comes with the option of 5 speed manual transmission and 4 speed AT. Jimny has a 22.86 cm touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, push start and stop, climate control, power windows, digital lock and tachometer. It has safety features like side and curtain airbags, dual front airbags, brake limited slip differential, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, brake assist function, rear view camera and side impact door beams.
