India’s Reliance Jio recently showcased its advanced satellite-based gigabit fiber service, known as JioSpaceFiber, at the India Mobile Congress. The service is designed to provide high-speed broadband access to previously underserved areas across India. JioSpaceFiber will be available across the country at competitive prices.

Reliance Jio is known for providing high-speed broadband services, serving more than 450 million Indian users. The company says it aims to accelerate digital inclusion for homes across India with the addition of JioSpaceFiber to its lineup of broadband services including JioFiber and JioAirFiber. Through JioSpaceFiber, users and businesses can access reliable, low-latency, high-speed internet and entertainment services, regardless of their location. The satellite network will also boost mobile backhaul capacity, improving the availability and reach of Jio True5G in remote areas.

Reliance Jio has partnered with SES to leverage state-of-the-art Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite technology, capable of delivering gigabit, fiber-like services from space. With access to SES’s O3b and new O3b mPOWER satellites, Jio is poised to provide scalable and affordable broadband connectivity across India.

JioSpaceFiber has already connected four of the most remote locations in India, including Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chhattisgarh, Nabarangpur in Odisha and ONGC-Jorhat in Assam.

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said, “JioSpaceFiber will enable widespread access to gigabit-speed internet, giving everyone the opportunity to fully participate in the digital society with access to government services, education, healthcare and entertainment. Will be allowed.”
