Another incident of misuse of AI has come to light when hackers associated with Iran hacked many European TV streaming services including BBC and played fake news on TV through AI. Microsoft has disclosed this. Hackers played a similar game with streaming services in the UK, UAE, and Canada.

Hackers hacked a programming service to show a fake report on Gaza that used graphic images, and the anchor was also created through AI. Microsoft has a blog post I have given information about this. According to the tech giant, hackers carried out this attack in December. The attack shows how much Iranian operations had intensified after the start of the Israel-Hamas war.

The fake news broadcast was primarily run to portray Israel’s operations in Gaza, with the banner: “We have no choice but to hack to get our message across.” After that an AI generated fake anchor appears which shows graphics images. These images were not verified. The images were of Palestinians, including women and children, allegedly killed and injured by Israeli forces inside Gaza.

The hack was so strong that the same content was visible on every TV channel.
