of Indian Express Report According to , a couple sold their eight-month-old baby for Rs 2 lakh in Gandhinagar area of North 24 Parganas district of Bengal. It is being told that with this money the couple bought an iPhone and with the remaining money they went to visit Digha and Mandarmani. Not only this, the couple was not at all sad about selling their child, this can be gauged from the fact that both of them reportedly did a lot of shopping and made Instagram reels during their travels.
Police have informed that the names of the couple are ‘Jaidev Ghosh’ and ‘Sathi’, who wanted to shoot a reel after purchasing an expensive phone. Apart from this, it has also been revealed that apart from the newborn, he also has a seven year old daughter. Officials said the police have also arrested the mother and the woman who bought the child. The child’s father is absconding and a search is on to nab him.
It is surprising that the accused father had also tried to sell his seven-year-old daughter, but his plan could not succeed.
The report further states that a senior official of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate said that the couple’s child was missing since Saturday, but they did not lodge any missing complaint with the police. Local residents became suspicious when they found a new iPhone with the couple and reported the matter to the police.
The officer further said that “After interrogation, the mother confessed to the crime and said that she and her husband wanted to use the money to travel across the state so that they could create content for Instagram Reels.”
The police have taken back the newborn from a woman, Priyanka Ghosh, who lives in Khardah in the same district.
