Microblogging site X, owned by Elon Musk, keeps banning suspicious accounts from time to time. The company has banned 2,37,339 accounts in India in October. Of these, 2755 accounts were such that they were promoting terrorism. The company has monthly report I have given information about this. 3229 complaints were registered from users on the company’s complaint portal. Apart from this, action was taken by X on 78 such complaints in which an appeal was made to suspend the account.
Earlier, X had banned 5,57,764 accounts in India in the month of August. These accounts were banned between August 26 and September 25. During this time too, it was told by the company that 1675 accounts were banned because they were promoting terrorist activities.
According to the new IT Rules 2021, social media platforms with more than 50 lakh subscribers will have to submit their monthly compliance reports. In this report, the platform will have to give details about what actions the company took to maintain the safety of users and run the platform smoothly, how many complaints were received, and how many complaints were acted upon.
Talking about other news related to social media platforms, recently it was revealed in a report that microblogging on X will not be free. The platform is planning to charge an annual fee from users. X has said that it is going to charge users a fee of $ 1 every year under a new subscription model. This fee will have to be paid for posting content, replying, likes and repost. The new subscription model has been named ‘Not A Bot’. Those creating a new account on Twitter will have to pay. Users who do not pay will only be able to read the content. X argues that by doing this it wants to deal with bots and spammers.
