Researchers at McGill University in Canada have conducted this study. In which it has been found that excessive use of smartphones and social media in adolescence causes paranoia, delusions, hallucinations (which are also called hallucinations) at the age of 23-24 years. These are all brain related problems. Researchers analyzed this on 1226 participants born between 1997 and 1998. to study JAMA Psychiatry Has been published in the journal named.
During the research, many types of questions were asked to the participants to find out whether they had any disturbing thoughts or strange experiences? Some of these questions were – Have you ever felt that people give any hint about you or talk to you with double meaning? Have you ever felt as if the thoughts in your mind are not your own? Have you ever heard voices when you are alone?
Based on the answers given, the researchers came to the conclusion that those who played video games in adolescence had 3 to 7 percent more psychological experiences. But researchers also said that here we cannot blame technology alone. It was said that if a child is showing signs of addiction to any device, then it is a warning that he may soon become mentally ill. The research team said that removing the youth from the screen completely is not a solution, rather it can be more harmful. The team hopes that this research will definitely help psychologists to understand why such mental symptoms develop in youth, and how they can be helped in this problem.
