ArsTechnica’s one Report According to, a ChatGPT user shared a screenshot showing how the chatbot is leaking people’s chats. The images show that the chatbot is also leaking sensitive information like username and password. The report said that the user who shared the screenshot accessed ChatGPT for a query, but he saw chats of some other users in that chat history, which were not related to him.
The screenshot shows that another user in the conversation in the chat history was attempting to troubleshoot problems through the support system used by Pharmacy Prescription Drug Portal staff. The name and store number of that app and additional login credentials were also present in this chat.
Another leaked conversation included the name of a presentation another user was working on. It also included information about an unpublished research proposal.
In response to this, ChatGPT said that the account of the user who shared the screenshot was tampered, that is why this happened. The company further revealed that the unauthorized logins came from Sri Lanka, while the user said he logged into his account from Brooklyn, New York.
In a statement to the website, the company said, “From what we found, we believe this to be an account takeover. The investigation found that the conversations were recently made from Sri Lanka. These conversations are in the same time frame as the successful login from Sri Lanka “
While the user has changed his password, he suspects that his account was compromised. In a statement to the website, the user said he used a nine-character password with uppercase and lowercase letters and special characters. She said she did not use it anywhere else except her Microsoft account.
