Global e-commerce and tech company Amazon plans to make an additional investment of $ 15 billion in India. Company’s Chief Executive Andy Jassy gave this information in the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With this, Amazon’s total investment in the country will increase to $26 billion.

Modi met with some American and Indian executives from the tech sector on the last day of his US tour. These included Apple Chief Tim Cook, Google CEO, Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella, Chief of global software company Microsoft. Modi has appealed to these global companies to contribute to ‘Make in India’.

Recently, Amazon had increased the prices of monthly and quarterly plans of its Prime service in India. However, the price of the annual subscription plan has not been increased. Customers will have to pay Rs 1,499 for the annual membership of Amazon Prime as before. The prices of monthly and quarterly membership of this service have been increased by Rs 120 and Rs 140 respectively. The price of its monthly subscription plan has increased the most by 67 percent.

According to the information given on Amazon’s support page, the monthly subscription price of Amazon Prime has increased to Rs 299 and the price of quarterly plan has increased to Rs 599. Earlier their cost was Rs 179 and Rs 459 respectively. This means that the monthly plan has become costlier by about 67 percent and the quarterly plan by about 31 percent. However, the company has not increased the cost of annual membership and for this you will have to pay Rs 1,499 as before. The duration of these subscription plans will not affect the benefits available with them. Users will be able to get delivery of products in one to two days without any minimum order value. Along with this, users will also get access to Prime Video, Prime Music and Prime Reading.
