The presence of oxygen outside the Earth means that the possibilities of life can be explored at that place in the future. But can this possibility be fulfilled on one moon? You will be surprised to know that Europa, the moon of Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, is producing so much oxygen, which is enough for 10 lakh people. This information has come to light in a new study. It has been revealed that Europa is producing more oxygen than previously estimated.

Published in Nature Astronomy Study It is said that about 1,000 tons of oxygen is released daily from the icy surface of Europa, which can provide breathing work for 1 million people for 24 hours. Nasa’s Junae mission has played an important role in obtaining this information.

Juno spacecraft has been collecting information about Jupiter and its moons for many years. Scientists conducted this study using data from the JDE instrument mounted on the spacecraft. Two years ago, in September 2022, Juno flew close to Europa. After studying the data collected at that time, it was found that this moon of Jupiter is releasing a lot of oxygen.

At first, scientists estimated that oxygen production on Europa ranges from a few pounds to 2,000 pounds per second. Now it is estimated that Europa releases more oxygen than this. This study is also important because scientists think that there may be a huge ocean beneath the icy surface of Europa. If there is presence of oxygen, then it can be an important sign of the development of life on this planet.

This study has boosted the morale of NASA, because the space agency is going to launch the Europa Clipper mission in the coming days. The purpose of the mission to be flown by the end of this year is to gather in-depth information about Europa.
